À la prochaine, France
Even as my final days were numbered, my daily routines remained unchanged. Every now and then, I’d feel a tinge of nostalgia thinking this will be my last walk through the vineyard, or today will be my last day wearing these tattered overalls. It felt like I was leaving Valmer in a matter of days, not France. I tried to relish in everything, though I also reassured myself that I will be back. My three months spent as a french gardening nomad have been inspiring, enlightening, and exactly what I needed. The internship was merely a metaphor for me choosing a road less traveled post graduation, the scenic route on my life’s journey. It was an unforgettable adventure, and a learning experience no less. I thank every new friend and acquaintance I met on the way, for each of them played a pivotal role. Hundreds of photographs, the blog, salvaged wine tickets, and especially the collection of memories embedded in my mind will serve as enduring souvenirs. So with that said, I save my goodbyes to France for another day, and instead bid her a sincere ”until next time.”
